NWTWS

Empowering the Community

Nwtws is involved in trying to enable the tribals to receive what their genuine entitlement holds. It is from an Adhar card, to a ration card, to a community certificate, to disability pension and the list is never ending.

The community has been dealing with several problems with some people selling their ration card for a few bottles of liquor.  The adhar card has mobile numbers which are not theirs and it's hard to generate a new one as the OTP goes to someone else. With the untiring efforts of the NWTWS team including Novan and Vasu and the support of key Government officials we have managed to correct and enable their dues
Opening a bank account is in itself a huge task. Problems are more with children changing their names at will. We have had great difficulty in trying to get them a certificate that they are tribals, though it is obvious to one and all that they are tribals.

We want them to know what they are due from the state and what is enshrined in the Constitution and we work towards educating and empowering them, one step at a time.

Leadership Training

NWTWS is aware that the society exists for them and it is there to serve their interests and needs. In this connection NWTWS has a Tribal advisory committee which guides NWTWS in all its activities and virtually sets the Agenda for the Society.

The advisory committee has members representing all the four tribes.
They meet every quarter alternating between NWTWS, and at their villages. It is encouraging to note that when meetings are at the villages, women are active participants. NWTWS shares all its activities, outcomes and finances with the leaders.
At NWTWS, we also conduct workshops and camps for the youth, who will be the future leaders of the community.
